On Sunday November 8, 2020 the EPA CoNAM hosted Donna Fann-Boyle Choctaw-Cherokee, Ramona Ioronhiaa Woods Mohawk, and Arla Patch Ally of the Coalition of Natives and Allies to speak with us about Race Based Mascots. The recording begins with the Acknowledgment of the Land, moves to an opening prayer and an opening song which can be used in local churches.
This is a link to the recording of the presentation and Q & A session can be seen HERE

More than a Word documentary. More Than A Word analyzes the Washington football team and their use of the derogatory term R*dskins. Using interviews from both those in favor of changing the name and those against, More Than A Word presents a deeper analysis of the many issues surrounding the Washington team name. The documentary also examines the history of Native American cultural appropriation. http://morethanawordfilm.com/

I have learned to keep quiet and just listen and you will learn a lot. - EPA CoNAM chairperson emeritus and non-Native Bob Hinderliter
After many of us logged off, he shared stories that exemplified that if we take the time to learn even more, people will come to trust us. As we heard from our presenters, Ally is a verb. We have the knowledge. We have the resources. We cannot feign innocence or ignorance. Let us begin the work of decolonizing and dismantling these harmful racist actions.
