Advocacy in PA
The Coalition of Natives and Allies (CNA) are leading the way in Pennsylvania to eliminate harmful Mascots.
According to their website:
The PA Youth Congress, states that there are still 64 race-based mascots within the Pennsylvania public school system. Despite recent changes within two districts, this remains an issue at large.
While Coalition of Natives and Allies respects that many people have their own opinions on Native Mascots, reliable research proves the harm to both Native and non-Native students and adults. These mascots allow room for racial superiority and opens doors for discrimination and disrespect to other marginalized groups and peoples. For more information go here.

Change the Morgantown, WV High School Mascot
The Morgantown High School mascot is insensitive and disrespectful to Native American culture. The Mascot itself pulls from racial and cultural stereotypes, as well as wearing mock-Native American clothing. Using Native Americans as mascots also portrays and continues the connotation of them being "costumes" and being the same as animals. Sign the petition below to stop this cultural misappropriation.
